CATIA Systems Architecture Design - SAR

Unexpected failures arise naturally from emerging behavior in complex systems, where many different events can occur at the same time. Multiple heterogeneous logical design environments may appear to be necessary to execute sub-systems belonging to different disciplines, but they are not suitable for complex systems covering these disciplines.

CATIA Systems Architecture Design provides capabilities to first run a functional breakdown of the system in order to identify the different functionalities that the system will achieve. Then systems architects can define a logical model to execute and analyze technological solutions corresponding to these functionalities.

The execution model is based on a language, which allows to perform formal static checks, automatic scheduling and detection of looped systems. In addition, 3D shapes can be associated to the components of a logical system, in order to perform 3D animation during the execution of the system or space reservation, for instance.

Virtual execution of the dynamic behavior of global and complex systems:

 An overall simulation is run by integrating all the equations of the different sub-systems of the global system. This applies to both Functional and Logical models. A powerful symbolic reduction of the equations set brings huge performances to simulate the most complex systems.

 

R-F-L traceability with native PLM integration:

Links between the requirements, the functional breakdown and the logical model are easy to define, to retrieve and to re-use, if necessary. This traceability brings quality through consistency and important productivity gains, as any collaborator benefits from the shared system modelization.

 

Integrated analysis tools: IO monitoring, plot, debug:

When the execution of a functional or logical model is started, the user can:

- control the execution (pause, step forward, continue and stop)

- monitor the current state of the model, by accessing to values of inputs and outputs

- plot curves from the states of the model

 

User benefits from 3D animation: “see what you mean”:

Associate 3D shapes to the Logical model, and animate them during the execution. This animation makes the system behavior easy to understand and allows to anticipate failures due to collisions for instance.

 

Dynamic specifications of the system are accurately captured and hybrid simulation is supported:

With a simple set of properties, the temporal characteristics (frequency/synchronicity/offset/delay information) of the functional and logical system models are easily defined. The Virtual Execution platform will schedule and synchronize the simulated systems according to those dynamic properties. Moreover, multi-behavior models are supported, allowing to have different facets for each systems (nominal behavior, trivial behavior, dysfunctional behavior...). Also, SVE support hybrid simulation, i. e. mixing discrete or continuous behavioral model or multi-frequencies systems.
