Manufacturing Process Simulation: Resin Transfer Molding Solution
An ESI engineer demonstrates the powerful integration of Liquid Composites Simulation FEA tool, PAM-RTM, within CATIA, for efficient and seamless workflow from Composites Part Design (with CPD tool) to process testing, validation and optimization (with PAM-RTM).
PAM-RTM is used in that example to determine the optimum injection strategy for the Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) of a B-Pillar part (note, infusion which is not treated in this example can also be simulated). The location of the injection gates and vents as well as the injection pressure or flow rate will minimize the injection time, and risk of voids will result from the simulation. PAM-RTM directly uses data already defined in CPD as for instance the material properties so as to ease iterations.
The overall target of that chain is to save costs by minimizing the development time and risk while increasing the quality of the part and using a common environment, CATIA.
