Huge companies in the Silicon Valley started their business in a small garage, with one to three people. Then their innovative products made them successful companies. It is quite the same story for our partner Optis. 21 years ago, Jacques DELACOUR launched Optis in a container and now the company has 65 employees with offices in North America, Germany and Japan.

Jacques DELACOUR has been awarded the prestigious distinction of Chevalier de L’Ordre National du Mérite, the National Order of Merit, awarding his success as CEO.

The medal was presented to DELACOUR by Bernard CHARLÈS, on behalf of the French President. The National Order of Merit is the second highest award accorded to civilians by the French Republic, behind the Legion of Honour.

Leadership sharing

J. Delacour, is also invested in several organization both locally in the Var region (Management progress association, Toulon Var Technologies) and nationaly (Richelieu comity, OSEO Excellence)

Optis is now working for huge companies like Airbus, Audi, Jaguar, Thales, Bombardier, ... doing light simulation based on physics, integrated into PLM Process for ergonomics and safety.

Dassault Systèmes sets up PLM Forums every year. Those forums allow our partners, VARs and Customers to connect and interact.

During plenary sessions, attendees will discover new DS strategic orientations, product releases, evolutions and more. Other sessions will be animated by partners introducing product description, customer testimony, and so on.

Ready, Steady, go!

From May 2010 to the end of the year, there will be PLM Forums in EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa), Israel Forum took place in February of this year. In the coming two months no less than seven PLM Forums are scheduled, from Nordics to Italy through Germany, France and Eastern EMEA.

Nordics and Eastern EMEA on the starting blocks

The closest PLM Forum will take place in Sweden. Actually, Anthony, the PLM MarketPlace Project Leader will be there to present the program, how it works and the benefits that everybody can get from it.

Dassault Systemes' Slovenia and Czech Republic will launch the Eastern EMEA PLM Forum in the second half of May (May, 12 in Slovenia and May, 26-27 in Czech Republic). Our reseller partners Dytron, Technodat, Idiada and T-Systems will be part of the Czech PLM Forum.

Noomeo, our hardware partner providing 3D scanners and Objet, providing 3D printers, will be sponsor of all Eastern EMEA PLM Forums (Czech Republic, Slovenia and Poland).

Both 3D scanning and 3D printing technologies offer low impact 3D to manufacturing technologies compared to traditional technics. If you want to understand and discuss the benefits of sustainable innovation with our partners, we will be pleased to welcome you at our PLM Forums.

"See what you mean" is our motto here at Dassault Systèmes. This slogan refers to what our PLM solutions can do and how they can improve the user experience. But seeing is not just a matter of software. You can use the best software in the world (these can be found here ;-)) but without a good 3D rendering, it is very difficult to “see what you mean”.

Advanced Micro Devices (aka AMD) is one of the key Dassault Systèmes' Technology Partners. Today, we are proud to announce that their ATI FireProTM professional graphics 3D cards family is referenced on the PLM MarketPlace. Users are now offered the possibility to ask for information about AMD's device and be connected to one of their people!

At Dassault Systèmes, we consider AMD's products as one of the key enablers to deliver the power of our software. Take a look at Fred's video in which he explains how are AMD 3D graphic cards provide accelerated performance:

Have a look at what these guys do, 3D rendering is simply amazing! Also, don't miss their new ATI FireProTM V8800 Professional Graphics, setting new standards.

Intercim LLC, a global leader in Manufacturing Operations Management and Operations Intelligence software, congratulates The Boeing Company and the 787 Program team for the successful test flights of the first four most advanced aircraft in the industry. Intercim thanks The Boeing Company for the opportunity of being a partner on such a unique program.

The partnership between The Boeing Company and Intercim started in 2004. At that time, Boeing chose Intercim’s Pertinence Suite powered by Velocity® as a key component of the transformational manufacturing system processes defined for the 787 program. Building an airplane is an extremely complex and highly regulated process and Boeing was looking for a solution offering flexibility and scalability. The flexibility needed to be in how the company would handle reports and also gather data. In addition, Boeing wanted a scalable solution to keep pace with the growth of the program. Intercim was selected based on its ability to support these goals.

The first flight of the Boeing B787 on 2009-12-15

Today, Pertinence Suite in the 787’s Final Assembly is an important part of the Boeing toolkit that ensures materials and tools are accounted for throughout the process and installed according to the documented plans. On the shop floor, mechanics are equipped with a tablet PC and any information is available through the wireless device for real- time visibility on the production process of the airplane. The Pertinence Suite is helping Boeing’s partners and suppliers around the globe stay on track.

Pertinence Suite helps Boeing maintain a critical communication link with its worldwide supplier base. The solution supports the program with a real time and paperless process that improves production visibility. John Todd, Intercim CEO, concludes, “The extensive use of composite materials, a global network of component and subassembly manufacturing partners makes this aircraft truly unique; Intercim is proud to support the Boeing 787 team and to be part of this program. Our congratulations to The Boeing Company!

I have been at the recent LMS user conference in Munich where more than 200 experts in Engineering Simulation have gathered to discuss industry challenges and solutions.

Of course LMS has presented their rev.9 of Virtual.Lab for 3D functional performance simulation, with the stack of solutions for Acoustics, Durability & Fatigue and Motion that works seamlessly in the CATIA V5 environment. Those solutions are accessible via the PLM MarketPlace in the LMS page.

This rev.9 is packed with innovative technologies and advancements in functionalities and has received appraisal in user reviews, e.g. the one in MCAD Café. Please go there to have all the technical details, bells and whistles.

The acoustics simulation in particular seems to offer major breakthroughs in meeting industry challenges in this domain.

If you want you can enjoy my personal review from the 2 days in Munich on 3D Perspectives Blog. Here I take a look on the subject of Acoustics and Sound Design and what it means to the success of a manufacturing brand (cars and Daimler as an example).

My carry-out from the conference was that LMS showed a very strong commitment to fully grasp their customers’ needs and to help them to find answers. Dr’s Urbain Vanddeurzen, LMS CEO, and Jan Leuridan, Executive VP & CTO, stated in their plenary keynote that LMS does Technology Contributions to support development process at their customers. This is what it is. They do this within a user community of more than 100,000 engineers, with 1,000 employees at LMS and with re-invested revenue of 25% in R&D. Keep up the good work.

Feel free to ask your questions or comments regarding LMS and Virtual.Lab in the comments section or to LMS Director-Product Management Virtual.Lab Nick Tzannetakis (nick.tzannetakis@lmsintl.com) directly.

Best,
Michael
