HomeExtending Dassault Systèmes' Solutions thanks to approved partners

Thursday, 10 November 2011

DSCC2011 has now closed its doors and, from what I've heard and read, everyone really enjoyed the event. Two days of plenary sessions with executives from our customers and Dassault Systèmes (3DS), technical sessions including customers testimonies and a Technology Showcase where people had the possibility to meet 3DS experts and our partners. This was DSCC2011 and I hop you get the most of it and brought lots of ideas back at the office!

On the PLM MarketPlace side, it was a pleasure for me to see our American customers and partners and share ideas and opinions on what is going on in the industry. Our software and hardware partners came here with very exciting products. This was also a huge opportunity to present the benefits of the program not only to partners but also to our customers. PLM MarketPlace is also made for them and it was great to show them what our partners have to offer them.

I had the chance to meet Emmanuel from DPS. He gave me more details about his company's latest software called Mid Surface Mesher. You can find it on the PLM MarketPlace. Basically, Mid Surface Mesher is a tool aimed at providing CATIA V5 users specific capabilities for generating and meshing medial surfaces of thin structures. They're working on sone nice projects, you should hear more about it soon!

Also, it was a pleasure to see Shauwn and his team from CoastalLogic. This company is regularly present during 3DS events. They have just released convertLogic v5.8 (seamless, automated PDF conversion and metadata stamping of files from your ENOVIA database). This new version brings some new enhancements, including on demand streaming. Stay tuned to CoastalLogic, they've got some exciting new products on the way!

Last but not least, our fellows from AMD were present too. They were demonstrating all the power of their FirePro 3D graphics cards on a DELL workstation and laptop. From a single graphics card, the scenario goes from design using CATIA V5 – for design content creation to technical illustration (3DVIA Composer – technical publication content creation) to 3D XML and web-based assembly instructions (content consumer) used on the field or on the shop floor. The benefits are the great performance on multi-display, the reliability and great value-add of having 3 full HD displays to master the complete workflow. Displays can be arranged side by side to create a giant extended desktop, which can help support such advanced, multi-application workflows. The workflow uses a radio controlled radio controlled R/C car. See by yourself:

Another demo, this time using a Dell Precision M6600:

Impressive, isn't it? And I've got a good news for you if are attending the ECF in a couple of weeks: the AMD team will be there to show you it working live!

Well, that's almost all for DSCC2011 from a PLM MarketPlace perspective! This was our second participation to this event and again, this was great to be there meeting our American customers and partners.

If you are in Europe, we really look forward to seeing you in two weeks in Paris at the European Customer Forum. We'll be present on the PLM MarketPlace booth located in the Technifair during these two days.

For those of you who want to have a refresh on the key messages of DSCC2011, a good way is to follow the hashtag #DSCC11 on Twitter as our attendees sent thousands of tweets during these two days! And if you want to see what the event looked like, we've uploaded some pictures on our Facebook page. Don't hesitate to share yours too!

I guess it's now time for me to see what's happening in the casinos before heading back to Paris! Wish me good luck ;-)

This is day 2 of this year's Dassault Systèmes Customers Conference (DSCC2010). With PLM MarketPlace being there these two days, in a way, all our Referenced Partners made the trip to Florida!

But as we said in some previous blogposts, a few of them are really present in Orlando. This is the case of Forcefive (Gold sponsor) and CoastalLogic (Silver sponsor). I invite you to know a little bit more about them...

I first met the Forcefive team made of Stefan Bikanic, Christian Fritz, Thomas Schmidt and Ian Phillips. Forcefive held a conference based on an usecase at BMW: "Accelerating innovation in global automotive development" which was successful in terms of attendees. Their solution, Fast Concept Modeller, enables very fast creation of models and their variants and reduces cycle times at the early concept stages. Stefan was pretty happy to be there at DSCC2010, "where everything is done the American way, everything is huge". If you did not have the opportunity to meet the Forcefive team in Orlando, they'll be present at ECF 2010 in a couple of weeks in Paris and will present some fresh content during a session.

The Forcefive Team

My next visit was to Shaun Dawson, Khanh Dao, Wayne Hoit and Andrea Young, the CoastalLogic's team. CoastalLogic joined PLM MarketPlace a few months ago. At DSCC2010, people had the opportunity to enjoy live demos of two of their products working with ENOVIA: printLogic for batch printing and convertLogic for PDF rendering. These solutions allow high customization and are very easy to use. "DSCC was for us an opportunity to interact with existing clients and prospects. It was an enjoyable experience" Shaun told me. He'll be also in Paris for the ECF 2010 looking forward to meeting new people.

The CoastaLogic team

From my perspective, I had a really good time there, networking with experts from our partners but also with customers. It is always a pleasure to make them discover our ecosystem of partners and the value they can bring to their Dassault Systèmes configuration.

It is now time to fly back to Paris, have some post-DSCC2010 calls and meetings. And also to prepare our next big event: ECF 2010! Don't miss the opportunity to meet us there!

See you in Paris in a couple of week.

Recently, Coastal Logic became one of our newest PLM Marketplace members. We thought it would be interesting to share some additional information about this dynamic company.

Coastal Logic is the leading provider of out-of-the-box printing and PDF rendering solutions for Enovia MatrixOne.

The company was founded in 2002 in response to a demand for capabilities lacking in PLM database software systems. Many PLM users have the need for robust, enterprise-controlled batch printing and PDF rendering solutions. Coastal Logic was formed to address the growing demand for commercial, out-of-the-box solutions that help companies ensure regulatory compliance, increase efficiency and accelerate profit.

Today, Coastal Logic solutions are globally deployed in a wide variety of industries including Aerospace, Industrial, Medical, and Energy manufacturing. One such client installation is at Smith and Nephew.

Smith and Nephew is a global medical device manufacturing company with operations in 33 countries and annual sales of over $2.6 billion. Prior to adopting Coastal Logic software, Smith and Nephew was running on a legacy custom-built platform for printing documents and drawings on the shop floor. As with many internally-built systems of this sort, this solution became brittle and difficult to maintain over time. One challenge of this Coastal Logic successfully installed printLogic to handle their printing requirements, along with some additional custom interface development to make the system work with their current shop floor processes. The resulting installation works seamlessly with their existing process and has the benefits of full support and maintainability. The project has been a huge success.

The out-of-the-box Coastal Logic solutions include two flagship products, convertLogic, which automatically stamps documents and renders them to PDF, and printLogic, which gives Enovia users a "print" button, right in the web interface, that allows them to print metadata-stamped documents without needing to use viewing software or native applications.

convertLogic helps to enable regulatory compliance and increase document transportability by converting files into secure, metadata-stamped PDF or TIFF files. Conversions are triggered automatically by PLM lifecycle events and occur on dedicated servers, so there is no additional load on the RMI servers.

printLogic enables Enovia users to create secure, metadata-stamped prints directly from the Enovia web interface. Prints can be queued one or hundreds at a time, and virtually any data can be extracted from the database and applied to prints.

What are some issues that you have had with Enovia with regards to printing or file format conversions? Tell us about it in the comments.

Shaun, for Coastal Logic
