HGS Automation to leverage Creaform’s 3D inspection solutions for its custom automation solutions

Creaform, a worldwide leader in portable 3D measurement solutions and 3D engineering services, and HGS Automation, a custom robotic solutions integrator with proven success in plant automation, announced that they have formed a strategic alliance.

HGS Automation will sell, integrate, and commission fully integrated Metrascan-R solutions, which provide robot-mounted optical CMM 3D scanners for automated inspection on and off the production line.

Based on the Metrascan 3D™ technology, the R (robot) version offers high accuracy, portability, and an intuitive interface to clients in need of 3D scanning devices for on-line measurements in the automotive and aerospace industries. HGS Automation also plans to offer custom solutions for clients in the heavy truck, rail, marine, medical, and general manufacturing industries.

Incorporating Creaform’s TRUaccuracy TM technology, the robotized inspection solutions offer HGS Automation customers the following benefits:

·         Speed: Automated inspection and quality control performed directly on production lines.

·         Versatility: The solution can be fully configured and programmed (inspection programs) to meet inspection automation requirements for parts of various sizes and shapes.

·         Accuracy:  Highly-accurate measurements of up to 0.085 mm in shop floor conditions (no matter instability, vibrations, thermal variation, etc.). Accuracy is determined by the optical CMM scanner and independent from the robot.

·         Dynamic referencing: With the C-Track’s dynamic referencing mode, the coordinate system can be literally “locked” onto the part being measured, therefore maintaining part alignment during the entire scanning process regardless of the production conditions.

·         Automatic self-calibration: Simply positioning a certified gauge in the work envelope ensures constant accuracy during the systems entire life cycle.

·         Continuous parameter monitoring: Monitoring of parameters, such as temperature and accuracy, ensures constant device accuracy during a systems entire life.

The turnkey solutions offered by HGS Automation provide better quality, accuracy, and repeatability. Moreover, they reduce health and safety issues for repetitive tasks handled by humans. The agreement will definitely help both organizations to reach a larger spectrum of end users and provide a solid foundation for installations, support, and in-service support.

For those of you looking for some interesting reading during Summer time (and even after…), we have updated our blogroll. A few 3DS partners have launched their own blog where they share their views, insights, ideas,… on how 3D can change the world we live in.
This is pretty interesting and less formal/corporate than the usual talks we can have and an invitation to debate and express your opinion with the partner and the readers.

So now, update your bookmarks:

- AMD: discover the latest state-of-art 3D graphics cards brought to the market by AMD and fully compatible with Dassault Systèmes' solutions.
- CD-adapco: everything you wanted to know about Computational Fluids Dynamics (aka CFD) is explained here by CD-adapco.
- Creaform: 3D printing is making the buzz at the moment but did you ever consider a technology that works in pairs with it: 3D scanning? Discover the world of 3D handheld scanner with Creaform!
- Dimensional Controls Systems: those of you interested in the world of automotive or aerospace really have to discover the world of tolerance analysis, the world of DCS!
- Golaemhow will a crowd behave in such or such situation? This is the questions Golaem can answer thanks to its simulations tools!
- Theorem Solutions: ever wondered if it was possible to switch from a CAD system to another? Check out how with Theorem Solutions.

And of course, there is the Dassault Systèmes blog, the place to discover more 3D experiences, to learn more about the world of 3DS and share your vision of the 3D with the community!

Enjoy all these valuable sources of content and ways to exchange and have a great Summer time!

How DS Alliance partners adopted our Community blog

Just 5 months ago, we made this community blog become available to all customers and partners. Many things happened since then, and we have seen an enthousiastic partner community welcoming this announcement during our last Partner Summit.

This is quite an innovative approach, since this blog content is created collaboratively by our partner community (software, service, hardware partners). It gives each partner the opportunity to talk to a large community of users in one place. Under the PLM MarketPLace umbrella, our customer community is now able to find and share information about all complementary solutions adding value to DS offers.
Even more interesting for all: the attitude of our partner community. We have there plenty of technical, consulting and sales people, people loving to HEAR and LEARN from customers.

How you will benefit from this momentum

We have people willing to listen, share and talk. What are we going to talk about in the PLM field? Just what our customer and partner tell us!

So, what would be the most interesting and valuable blogpost to read in your mind? Please tell us what you think by answering this poll, or leave us a comment below.

the PLM MarketPlace blog is yours!!
Keep connected,

PLM MarketPlace's blog is changing!

After beeing in the private section of the PLM MarketPlace since last year, our blog is now public. But the scope of this blog has not changed: we have here a business blog dedicated to professionnals (B2B), with a focus on value added by our network of partners referenced on PLM MarketPlace. In this wordle map of our partner's portfolio, we can see that our partner solutions are mostly CAAV5-based softwares today, providing value to CATIA V5 users.

Wordle: PLM MarketPlace_2

In these pages we will be happy to share experiences about partner products, events, use cases, success stories that can provide value to our community of users. We will welcome contents provided by our referenced partner community. Resellers and customers could propose articles in reference to referenced partner solutions used by Dassault Systemes customers. (Stories about Dassault Systemes' Solutions shall be posted on our corporate website or on our corporate blog).

See you soon on PLM MarketPlace' blog :-)

PS: Sales content has been removed from older blog posts. Confidential information remain on the private section of the Marketplace, with an access limited to VAR members.

Monday, 17 November 2008

Over the past days, we received several e-mails from Sales Reps expressing their concerns about posting comments in the PLM MarketPlace business-blog.

The recurrent question was “Do I have to post under my real name and mention my Company’s name?”.

Well… I understand that in fact you talk about confidentiality. Obviously, we cannot oblige you to decline your true identity; it is neither a blogging policy nor our role at DS to check your ID card! I think that the greatest alternative (and also a common practice) is to use a nickname (but please, avoid things like “Haris Pilton”, “Teddy Bear”, etc… ;-). We really know that you want to protect your identity and therefore, your business.

Again, consider this space as yours and feel free to express yourself!

Blogging at Dassault Systèmes is quite a new experience and we are proud to be part of it. For you as well maybe… This blog is not only ours but it is, above all, yours! We want it to be interactive, based on experience and thoughts sharing.

Our main concern remains to help you do more business with our Referenced Partners and Customers. Consequently, almost all the topics will be business-oriented and deal with products, program offers, case studies, returns of experience, etc… We will also talk about any subjects you may want to consider because, again, this is YOUR blog! From time to time, we'll let our Partners talk about their products and, why not, start a one-to-one discussion with you!

This looks great but at this stage, we need to clarify some points concerning the new powerful communication tool. The PLM MarketPlace blog is moderated just because we want it to be clear and on topic, this means that negative contributions such as profanity, racial and ethnic slurs, and rude behavior like disparaging personal remarks won’t be tolerated nor published. This does not mean that you cannot publish an opposite point of view or disagree with a peer! But all we want is to ensure and maintain a cool atmosphere around here…

Another important thing regarding this blog: it is a not a DS support platform! We do not have the time nor the skills to answer questions dealing with technical issues. However, if your questions involve an opportunity in the scope of the PLM MarketPlace, don’t hesitate to share it with us!
