Geometric is a leader in PLM, Global engineering Services and OSPD. In October, they signed an MoU with College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) and Colorado State University (CSU), USA for setting up the ‘Geometric 3D Make Lab’ at the COEP premises.  This lab will be available to student industry specialists and its goal is to explain and develop 3D printing technologies.

Geometrics will invest USD200.000 in this lab in the next 3 years and provide its knowledge and technology on the following subjects: 3D printing, scanning, PLM, CAD and related areas; as well as projects for graduate/post graduate students on the additive manufacturing process

Mr. Manu Parpia, MD & CEO, Geometric said, “We are proud and excited to be associated with this path breaking initiative. Geometric 3D Make Lab will make exploring the power of additive manufacturing easier for the engineering community in Pune. We will get a first-hand view of the challenges and issues faced by users during 3D printing, helping us enhance our products and solutions for the design and manufacturing process of the future, thus enabling us to better serve our global customers. Moreover, I think it is critical for business and academia to come together for such commitments and hone the skills of the next generation of talent in our country.”

Wednesday, 13 November 2013

Here we are folks, the first day of this year's 3DEXPERIENCE Customer FORUM North America is over (time for gambling now, maybe ;-)). What a day! We had the chance to share our vision with our customers, partners, analysts, journalists. And, for sure, it looks like the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform gets a positive echo among all our communities.

One of the highlights of the day was Lynn Tilton's (founder and CEO of Patriarch Partners) speech during the plenary session. Her vision of the role of an entrepreneur, the way a company has to adapt to survive, the place of dreams in innovation or how Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE Platform can contribute to make a better world,… is so inspiring!

The possibilities offered by the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform were illustrated by Paul Lomangino, Director of Engineering Applications at Tesla Motors and Olivier Sappin, VP for the Transportation and Mobility Industry at Dassault Systèmes. Connecting the dots within a company and even outside with suppliers, OEMs, etc… is what the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform is all about and perfectly illustrated by the Tesla case.

Now, let's have a look at what our partners brought in Vegas. Amazing things as you can imagine. This is when you go through the 3DEXPERIENCE Playground that you realize how the 3DS ecosystem is rich and the value it brings to customer is huge.

We first stopped by Boxx's booth to meet Brian and Joe. Boxx is a Technology Partner delivering high performance workstations specializing on high performance rendering (several GPUs working in parallel).

Next to Boxx is zSpace. Randy and Gregg welcomed us and presented us combined solutions for immersive 3D virtual learning experiences which was developed in cooperation with the 3DVIA Composer team.

Our well established partner Barco was here too with its huge 3D screen. Huge doesn't mean hard to handle for Barco! See: it only takes 40 minutes to get this 4K 8.5ft x 5ft out of its transportation container and have it running! Add another couple of hours for alignment and you're done!

Back to software now with a famous PLM MarketPlace partner: Geometric Limited. Manish, Jeff and Ashish detailed their different levels of partnerships with Dassault Systèmes which include, among others, software development and reseller. Their final motivation is to "empower the business intent".

One of the Gold sponsors of the event is another PLM MarketPlace partner: CoastalLogic. As you may know, this company develops solutions for batch printing and PDF rendering right in ENOVIA: printLogic and convertLogic. Shaun Dawson, the company's CEO held a session for the Aerospace & Defense industry in order to demonstrate how his solution can help companies to solve document stamping in today's environment of rapidly-changing requirements.

As you can see with this first overview, there's a 3DS partner for almost everything! We'll continue our tour in the 3DEXPERIENCE Playground tomorrow. Bear with us to discover more partners and the value they bring to the market!

Now, it's time for gambling! :-)

One last thing: if you wish to follow the event on Twitter, the ashtag is #3DXforum! And if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask using this ashtag.

Tuesday, 08 December 2009

A few days ago, from December 2 to December 5 2009, designers and engineers met in Frankfurt, Germany for the Euromold 2009 World Fair for Moldmaking and Tooling, Design and Application development.

Based on its name, this event was first dedicated to the European market but there are more and more attendees and exhibitors coming from several parts of the world. The number of exhibitors has increased by 10% (in comparison to 2008), with a significant part of people coming from China. This year, there were 1354 exhibitors from 37 countries attending the event.

Scanning Euromold

The PLM MarketPlace team wasn't there but we were well represented with some of our partners attending this major event: Geometric, Cenit and our new provider: Noomeo
Since it was the first time Noomeo attended this event, they kindly offer you a little feedback of the event along with their personal feeling.

For the very first time, Noomeo attended on its own to an international show, Euromold in Frankfurt, for presenting its “scan for dummies” that can scan everything in every place without any skills. Nevertheless, we were in the middle of high level industries involved in the mold making and manufacturing processes. We welcome on our booth “000’s” and “000’s” of visitors who were really impressed by the ease of use of the system and the way it is responding to industrial processes while being so simple to handle. During this event, we had the great pleasure to demonstrate the accuracy of the OptiNum solution on a wide range of “objects”, such as a plastic bumper of a car, a portion of a injection mold, a plush of Hamtaro, a Volkswagen Combi toy, a bronze casted statue and a charming face of a booth hostess. All these lifelike experiences allowed us to capture and use in 3D these people and object as simply as taking a picture of them. Because OptiNum’s technology is unique, our capabilities are very huge and we are able to answer to very industrial and serious processes and needs. The next event we will attend will be Imagina on February 3rd to 5th, in Monaco where we will be just in front of your preferred CAD system vendor and our best partner, Dassault Systèmes.

According to the picture above, it seems that their 3D handheld scanners attracted a lot of people!

Did you attend Euromold 2009? What are your impressions?

Alexandre and the Noomeo team.
